ALEXANDRIA – The Cenla Medication Access Program’s cancer screening van will visit Alexandria on Dec. 20-21 to offer Alexandria Parish residents colorectal, breast and cervical cancers screenings.
The van will be parked at 5604 Coliseum Blvd. from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, and from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Services include free clinical breast exams, mammograms, Pap smears, pelvic exams and take-home colorectal cancer kits. Appointments are required.
Annual breast and cervical screenings are recommended for women ages 40-64, and colorectal screenings for ages 50-64. Residents should contact the Cancer Screening Project at 318-767-3027 to see if they meet income and insurance qualifications prior to making an appointment. Patients must be a resident of one of the following parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon or Winn.
The screening van is a partnership between The Rapides Foundation, CMAP and the Partners in Wellness Program at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center at LSU-Shreveport.
