CDW Announces Fall 2016 Training Calendar

Register for September training offerings today!

Community Development Works, a program of The Rapides Foundation, is offering skill-building training for Cenla residents and nonprofits. All workshops and webinars are available free of charge. Webinars can be accessed from most devices using the GoToWebinar app. Workshops take place at The Rapides Foundation Building, 1101 Fourth St., Alexandria.

Register for workshops or webinars at www.communitydevelopmentworks.org. Training offerings are presented within five topic areas: Nonprofit Start-ups, Grant Writing, Advocacy, Evaluation, and Marketing. During the Fall training schedule, The Rapides Foundation is partnering with Digital PR and Fundraising Expert, John Haydon, to offer a webinar series on Content Marketing for Nonprofits.

The following trainings are being offered in September:

Start-up Series for Nonprofits: (a three-part workshop series on starting a nonprofit)
Workshop: To Be or Not To Be a 501(c)(3); Instructor: Felicia Walker; Tues., Sept. 6; 9 a.m. to Noon. Receive an overview on how to start a nonprofit organization, including how to file with the Secretary of State’s office and IRS.

Workshop: Introduction to Finding Funders; Instructor: Felicia Walker; Tues., Sept. 13; 9-11 a.m. Learn how to find funders using the Foundation Center’s comprehensive research tool.

Workshop: Conducting a Needs Assessment; Instructor: Leroy Divinity; Tues., Sept. 20; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn techniques for gathering information to better understand community challenges and opportunities. 

Grant Writing workshop: Basic Grant Writing; Instructor: Mary Gilliam; Thurs., Sept. 22; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Learn how to plan and write a compelling case in response to funding opportunities for your cause.

Advocacy workshop: Ready, Set, Advocate; Instructor: Stasha Rhodes; Tues., Sept. 27; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Learn the basics of advocacy and how to promote policy changes to support your cause.

Marketing Series: (a three-part webinar series on content marketing for nonprofits with Instructor John Haydon)
Webinar: Content Marketing 101: Creating and Curating Content that Captivates; Thurs., Sept. 15; 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Designed to provide basic tools to support an online giving campaign.

Webinar: Content Marketing 201: Creating a Content Workflow That Saves Time; Wed., Sept. 21; 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Expand your online reach and audience engagement by learning strong content development strategies.

Webinar: Content Marketing Feedback and Fine-Tuning; Thurs., Sept. 29; 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A review of the previous webinars and interaction with the presenter to obtain feedback on content strategies.
