Tuesday, April 2, is the deadline to apply for grants that encourage and improve physical activity and healthy eating among residents in Central Louisiana. These community implementation grants are for nonprofit organizations, government entities and faith-based community groups located in Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Vernon and Winn parishes.

A limited number of grants up to $25,000 each will be awarded.  The grant funds must be used to create, improve or repair physical-activity settings, such as walking trails, playgrounds or exercise stations, or for healthy food settings, such as farmers markets or community gardens. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 2.
