Event to take place Saturday, April 17
The Healthy Lifestyle Program is hosting a free walking clinic on Saturday, April 17, at Compton Park, Alexandria.
The clinic features an early morning walk and a workshop where attendees will learn how to increase the level of intensity of their daily walks. Participants will walk in the park at their own pace and finish together with a relaxing stretch.
Any Central Louisiana resident is invited. Families are welcome.
The event begins at 9 a.m. at Compton Park, located on Wakefield Boulevard, next to J.B. Nachman Elementary School. Participants are asked to bring a towel and water.
To reserve a spot, call (318) 767-3019.
Healthy Lifestyle Program staff members will lead and supervise the walking clinic. Funded by The Rapides Foundation and administered by CMAP, the Healthy Lifestyle Program provides nutrition and physical activity counseling to Central Louisiana residents. One feature of the program is providing one-on-one counseling to residents who are referred by their physicians. A registered dietitian and an exercise specialist work with each client, offering demonstrations and education on proper nutrition and physical activity for good health.
